I primi segnano, i secondi accolgono i segni.
mpGLYPHOZOO is a portable zoo whose inhabitants are creatures of the signs, of a pre-writing time, when a glyph was still a pure engraved or drafted line.Pre-gero-glyphs, one could say. So antiques to easily became object of phantasies: theese tiny wooden “monstres”, smoothed by time and water (the two elements that we actually call “writing”) they use to live on the torrents banks and at the borders of woods. For the first time they are here catalogued and showed in public, but they “escorted” the human being throughout his slow evolution of writing. Then, little by little, these signs came back to the mind -to the hand- as short lines, points, escaped drafts, tiny slanting or curved strokes, carved or light signs. They basically could be divided in two species: Calamus, who can draft the signs, and Mostrofoglio, the one who keeps the signs. Their evolution also pointed the fusion of the two species, and at now it’s clear the attempt to unificate not the bodies but their functions: to write and maybe even reading. A sort of a self-reader paper-pen.Better details are available on the zoo’s catalogue, at now we must just add -not to be more clear, but just sincere- that these creatures are still able to fulfil their drafting and writing work (some next musics will be probably written with and maybe for them), and that the music here performed is a result of the concrete contact point with their endless vitality.
