Review of Todas as Cores by Duo Taufic, 2015

Duo Taufic returnswith a new CD that highlights once again their ability to create elegant, sophisticated and timeless music. The two brothers, Roberto on guitar and Eduardo on piano, confirm not only their skills as musicians but also as wise alchemists of sound, being able to create a perfect and well balanced mix with their instruments. Their latest work Todas as Cores, as the previous Bate Rebate and Eles & Eu is an excellent work of orchestration and composition where the two brothers manage to express themselves fully without ever overdoing it, never exaggerate, neve falling into simplistic and useless or boring arrangements. Their taste for melody remains the dominant stylistic but it's never excessive, it's easy, listening to them, to remember the work by Bill Evans and Jim Hall, or the music by Egberto Gismonti. It's easy to be captivated by their melodies and stop listening to them enjoying the time spent in their company. Throughout this record there is never a lack of style, never a gap or a standstill in their musical texture. Please, however, do not cataloge this record in genre like easy listening: behind their notes, behind the apparent ease of their performances, there is a careful, alive and complex  thought that finds in its apparent simplicity more strength. Bravi!
