Neues Kabarett is delighted to present the Marco Cappelli Acoustic Trio giving an encore performance of its project,
'O Padreterno nun e` mercante ca pava o' sabbato, which they premiered at the Brecht Forum back in May.

'O Padreterno nun e` mercante ca pava o' sabbato, Neaopolitan dialect for “God is not a merchant who pays on the due date”, is a brand new suite of compositions inspired by Italian writer Maurizio de Giovanni and his mysteries. These stories involve the poetic figure of Commissario Ricciardi, a Naples policeman, during the time of the fascist Mussolini regime in 1930s Italy.

The Marco Cappelli Acoustic Trio explores the "chamber music" sound of Cappelli's classical prepared guitar in combination with Ken's powerful acoustic bass playing and Satoshi's very special set of percussion. The trio was formed back in 2009 by three of most active improvisers in the New York avant-garde music scene and gained a reputation through many appearances in New York's venues as well through a 2011 European Tour. BIOS:

Marco Cappelli has led an extraordinary artistic path, first becoming familiar with rigorous written music, then with free improvisation languages. The diversity of Marco’s performances is due to a fascinating array of collaborations (Anthony Coleman, Michel Godard, Butch Morris, Franco Piersanti, Jim Pugliese, Enrico Rava, Marc Ribot, Elliott Sharp and more) as well in jazz and avant-garde music festivals both as a soloist and in ensemble settings. Among the founders of the acclaimed Italian contemporary music group "Ensemble Dissonanzen", Cappelli currently lives in New York, where he is involved with the contemporary and avant-garde music scene. He is Guitar Professor at Conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini” in Palermo and Music Associate at Columbia University in New York.

Active since the early '80s, bassist Ken Filiano has since contributed to dozens of albums, most of them pertaining to creative jazz -- from post-bop to free improvisation. An educator, the bassist has taught at the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque), New York State University (Buffalo), UCLA, and Rutgers University. In 2002 Filiano finally released his first solo album, titled Subvenire. The November 2010 release Dreams from a Clown Car marked the recording debut of Filiano’s Quantum Entanglements quartet, featuring saxophonists Tony Malaby and Michaël Attias and drummer Michael T.A. Thompson.

Drummer, percussionist, and arranger Satoshi Takeishi is a native of Mito, Japan. He studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Berklee he developed an interest in the music of South America and went to live in Colombia following the invitation of a friend. He continues to explore multi-cultural, electronics and improvisational music with local musicians and composers in New York.

Sarà venerdì 18 Gennaio 2013, nella chiesa di Santa Caterina da Siena, il nuovo incontro con il suono di Antonio de Torres, considerato il massimo costruttore di chitarre di tutti i tempi. Questa volta il concerto sarà tenuto dal Maestro Stefano Grondona, per la prima volta a Napoli, uno dei massimi esponenti del chitarrismo internazionale e grande esperto di strumenti storici. Il Maggio Fiorentino pronto al collasso economico ...

Vi invito a leggere l'articolo pubblicato oggi sul Sole24Ore sulla crisi economica del Maggio Fiorentino.

L'analisi è lucida, chiara, semplice e ... spietata. Non si possono chiedere stipendi da favola quando l'istituzione ha un buco economico di 30 milioni di euro. Non si può pretendere che lo Stato, il Comune o un qualsiasi ente pubblico si addossi una perdita simile in questi momenti, quando chiudono fabbriche, negozi, etc.
Non si può continuare a far finta di niente ed è ora che la cultura si addossi le sue responsabilità: se si vuole andare avanti bisogna avere bilanci in ordine, pubblico pagante, sponsor privati, stipendi manageriali adeguati, amministratori capaci e risultati. Altre associazioni e istituzioni lo stanno facendo: La Scala è un esempio e anche La Fenice dopo gli errori (errori? o menefreghismo o incapacità?) delle precedenti gestioni si è messa in riga.
Se la cultura deve diventare un esempio della rinascita di questo paese è ora che la cultura dimostri di saper produrre risultati economici in grado di pagare stipendi, dipendenti e dare utili. Il resto sono elemosine di un passato che non esiste più. Le polemiche, gli appelli alla politica non servono.

It’s with great satisfaction and pleasure that I listen to and review this nineteenth chapter of the Guitar Collection directed by Frederic Zigante, the last record edited by Massimo Lonardi, the ideal continuation of the already beautiful cds Comienca la musica para guitarra and La Suave Melodia. This time we have here performed twenty-nine tracks by various authors such Luys Milan, Luys de Narvaez, Alfonso Mudarra, Enriquez de Valderrabano Diego Pisador, Miguel de Fuenilana, Esteban Daza and Diego Pisador, all Spanish composers who have dedicated their fantasy and their creativity at the service of Spanish Vihuela in its heyday between 1535-36 (when the edition of El Maestro) and the end of that century
This is therefore a monographic anthology describing this particular period of flourishing musical creativity, as the same Lonardi writes in beautiful 28-page booklet that accompanies, as usual, the CD, " bringing togheter on a CD pieces by varius composero and with various tendencies in style, taking them from a vast instrumental literature of superlative qualità like that for the vihuela is, rather, an opportunity to define preferences and affinities wiich are absolutely subjective." It’s crystal music that comes out from the two instruments created by Stefano Solari, a rich and vibrant polyphony, with clear and intense colors that for over an hour keep us in a polite and discreet company, Lonardi let us walk through all major music genres that characterize the solo repertoire of the instrument: Fantasias and Tientos, Diferencias and various forms of dance. A track on all top ut in evidence? The beautiful and flawless version of the Fantasia que contrahaze la harpa by Aloso Mudarra, alone is worth buying the cd!
